Accessibility Statement for the Aġenzija Sapport Website

Aġenzija Sapport is committed to enhance the quality of life of persons with disability through innovative personalised support, expertise, and advocacy. This is done also through equal opportunities, full inclusion and advocacy. The Agency thus promotes accessibility of information and service user involvement. Through this website, the Agency also commits to ensure digital accessibility for persons with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards as required.


Measures to support accessibility

  • Aġenzija Sapport takes the following measures throughout the organisation to ensure accessibility of its services:
  • Provides regular training to employees about the production of accessible documents in easy-to-read format
  • Adopts formal accessibility assurance methods through regular consultation with local experts in technology accessibility such as the Foundation for Information Technology Accessibility (FITA)
  • Provides easy-to-read documents to persons with disability to ensure involvement of service users in decision making
  • Includes a Resource section in the website with easy-to-read content aimed for persons with disability. Click this link for the easy-to-read resource section.​


Conformance status


The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility of websites for persons with disabilities. It defines different levels of conformance. The Sapport website is as at date of this statement partially conformant with WCAG. Please refer to Limitations and alternatives section below for more details. This will be reviewed periodically.

The Sapport website is designed to be compatible with the following web browsers:

Technical specifications and accessibility measures used


Accessibility of the Sapport website relies on HTML technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer.

This technology is relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

The Sapport website implements the following accessibility features:
  • Maximise colour contrast for text where applicable and possible
  • Actual link text is descriptive enough to inform user where the link points to
  • Implement all external links so that they open into new browser tabs
  • Implement a dynamic and interactive sitemap in order to facilitate navigation of the website content.​

Limitations and alternatives


The following limitations are observed at present:
  • No option to skip repeated content
  • Some hyperlinks on the website may be identifiable only by colour
  • Some PDF documents may lack the proper formatting for use by accessibility technologies
  • Some headings do not follow a consistent HTML Heading hierarchy and information layout across different web pages​

Other limitations due to website template structure:
  • Colour contrasts for some text does not meet the mandatory 4.5 requirement
  • Not all images can have ALT tag descriptions and captions
  • Some link texts are not meaningful (example: rotating banner)
Aġenzija Sapport implements a continuous improvement programme to rectify any accessibility issues in this website however despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility, there may be some limitations which may have gone unnoticed or are planned to be made accessible soon.

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 2 business days, and to propose a solution within 10 business days. You are entitled to escalate a complaint to the Malta Communications Authority at https://www.mca.org.mt/accessibilitycomplaint or to the Commission for the Rights for Persons with Disability (CRPD), should you be dissatisfied with our response to you.​
