Front Line Professionals Ref: INK/004
In an effort to improve the quality
of assistance afforded to persons with disability, the INK project also
envisages training for front-liners in the disability field. This training is
open to professionals and staff working directly with persons with disability
who wish to enhance his/her skills and go through an up-skilling experience.
The training will
involve a mix of informational sessions, group activity, as well as sharing of
best practices. Front line individuals will learn about the importance of
encouraging persons with disability to seek employment.
Discussions will
include, but not limited to:
- Disabilities, and how to reach out to persons with disabilities through
the front-line profession in relation to employment
- Barriers, inhibitions and motivations persons with disabilities face in
seeking employment
- Supported employment
- What changes employment brings to persons with disability and their
family
- Real-life models used locally and abroad
The training will also serve a space
for discussing any challenges encountered by individuals in the group and
creating a support network.
The training is for
the duration of 12 hours, and is free of charge. A certificate of attendance
will be given to those attending the full 12 hours.
