How long have you been working at Aġenzija Sapport and what does your role involve?

I started my role as CEO of Aġenzija Sapport in November 2019. My role consists of overseeing the operations of the Agency, together with staff dynamics which I attend to together with HR Department. Although this takes a lot of our time, as a new CEO I make it my business to know exactly what our employees are concerned about, what are the strengths of the Agency and what are the weaknesses. So in my first year as CEO, my role was mainly also to take stock of the Agency so that I see how it operates and get familiar with the procedures.

Describe either your most satisfying moment or your biggest challenge in your career.

I think my biggest challenge was where it all started, when I became a Social Worker. Although I had the support of my husband and our families, it was a huge challenge for me. I had two small children, I was a mature student, working part-time, studying at night and dealing with the reality of having a terminally ill father.

This however led me to the most satisfying moment of my career when I became a Social Worker. I am very proud of our profession and for me that was something which I really, really wanted to achieve. The success that came after is also gratifying and satisfying but if it was not for that moment, I would not be where I am today.

What is your favourite food?
Fish! I love fish! Anything to do with fish!
Pasta with fish, pizza with fish, fish soup, salmon, smoked salmon – anything as long as it is fish! The problem is that my husband does not like fish at all.

If you could be anywhere right now, locally or abroad, where would it be?
I would choose London. It is a very vibrant city and we enjoy shopping and going to restaurants. At the moment it is because my daughter lives there so I choose London so I will be able to see her even for 5 minutes.

However my husband and I also enjoy having holidays locally at our favourite, secluded hotel.
We enjoy it a lot over there because it’s quiet, we go for walks in the countryside and we go swimming.

Mention 1 thing from your bucket list.
That would be a cruise to Alaska! It was planned for this year but with the Covid-19 situation, we had to postpone it. It was meant to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary so we wanted to celebrate it big time. Hopefully we will be able to go for our 36th.

If you could be any character from film or TV, who would you be, and why?
I enjoy watching episodes, documentaries and films on history, like Victoria, Elizabeth and The Crown. I love history because it gives you insight on the past. So I think rather than a particular character, I would love to be someone who lived in the past, particularly in the Victorian era. I enjoy watching how things evolved, such as women’s rights.

What is your secret talent?
I am an open book, there are no secrets with me – what you see is what you get! If I have to mention one, I would say that my secret talent is managing admin work, being very organised and time management. I think it is a skill rather than a talent. It is important to have so I am able to manage my job and my family.
