1. What are the eligibility criteria to apply for a student placement? 

To apply you must be 18+ years old and attending a course which requires placement hours for you to be awarded a grade or certification through the relevant academic entity. 
We are currently not accepting minors for placements due to the sensitive nature of our services and potential exposure to situations beyond the control of the Agency which may be considered inappropriate. 


2. What type of placements does Aġenzija Sapport offer to students? 

Several types of placements are offered by Aġenzija Sapport, both office-based and on the service frontline, according to requisites of the course being followed by the student. 
​Clerical and office work placements can be offered within the following departments: 
  • Customer Care
  • Services
  • Quality Assurance and Service Audit
  • Research
  • Accounts
  • Administration
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing
  • EU Projects

Work placements which are specific to a course/profession can be offered in:
  • Day Services
  • Residential Services
  • Community Services
  • Sharing Lives
  • Social Work Services
  • Sign Language Interpretation Services 
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Marketing

Placements will be considered according to the relevance of the course of study being followed.  


3. Are placements paid or do I have to pay for my placement?
Placements within Aġenzija Sapport are unpaid. Students do not need to pay for their placements. 

Any expenses incurred by the student to attend their placements (e.g. transport, accommodation, food) will not be covered by the Agency. 

4. What do I need to apply for a placement?

You will need to submit a Student Placement Request application (available from this website) together with a scanned copy of your ID Card / Passport. 

5. I do not live in Malta. Can I still apply for a placement?

Yes. Aġenzija Sapport accepts international students for placements according to availability at the time of the request. Any expenses must be covered by the student, their academic institute or other student placement bodies (e.g. Erasmus). 

6. Is accommodation provided? 

No. Accommodation must be found and covered by the student, their academic institute or other student placement bodies (e.g. Erasmus). Details of accommodation must be provided to Aġenzija Sapport in the Student Placement Request application (available from this website)

7. Where will my placement be based? 

Placement location will depend on your request and your area of residency in Malta and Gozo.

8. How do I get to and from my placement? 

You must use your own preferred method of transport to and from the placement location. Any expenses must be covered by you as the student, your academic institute or other student placement bodies (e.g. Erasmus). 

9. I am a student with disability. Can I apply for a student placement?

Yes. Aġenzija Sapport is an equal opportunities employer and strives to offer placements to students of all levels of ability who are attending courses requiring placement hours. It is the responsibility of the student to inform the Agency about his or her requirements in order to best accommodate their placement request. 

10. When will I know if I got the placement or not? 

The processing time varies. Typically, it can take two weeks for initial contact to be made. It may take up to four weeks before you receive a final answer in relation to your placement, depending on the requirements.  

11. It has been 2 weeks and I have not received a response from you following my application. What might be happening?

It may be that your application was not received due to technological error or has not yet been processed due to high number of requests.

12. Is a placement guaranteed?

No. Placement availabilities depend on the type of placement and the department within which it is being requested. Due to high demand in certain areas or other factors beyond the Agency’s control, placements may be refused or delayed respectively. 

13. I am concerned that my personal information is given to people I do not know. What does the Agency do with my personal data?

Aġenzija Sapport abides by a strict data protection policy and in line with GDPR. All information is kept on record within the service. Information is only transferred to other services or third parties with the consent of the person involved or as required by law. Personal information is retained for the duration of the service and as stipulated in the Agency’s Data Protection and Retention Policy and is seen only by the team and professionals involved on the service. Students can contact our Data Protection Controller to receive further information pertaining to their rights on gdpr.sapport@gov.mt.

14. Do I have access to my records? 

You may request access to your data by sending an email to our Data Protection Officer on gdpr.sapport@gov.mt​
