When a child is diagnosed with a disability, the family goes through a rollercoaster of
emotions. Families may also experience a
sense of helplessness and lack of courage. Even though the needs of each family are
individual, some queries and emotions are common amongst families who have a child with disability. Thus Aġenzija Sapport launched Workshops and
Support groups to support these families.
Workshops
and Support Groups meetings are held on a monthly basis. A schedule with
dates, times and topics to be discussed is communicated to all participants.
Aims: The aim of such 2-hour workshops are for Social Workers to discuss the pre-planned topics of interest to the parents, followed by an open discussion as a support group in the second hour.
Who can apply: Parents, grandparents, carers or curators of children with disability who are under the age of 18. Those
interested in attending do not necessarily need to be followed by a Social Worker from Sapport.

Topics:
Topics discussed during these workshops are based on
suggestions from parents of children with disabilty themselves. Professional
staff and experts in the respective areas facilitate these sessions.
