Professional Advisory Prevention Team

Overview

The Professional Advisory Prevention Team (PAPT) is a multi-disciplinary team holding professional knowledge and several years of experience working with persons with disabilities.

 

The team focuses on:

 

  • Consultations specific challenges, particularly those related to behaviour of concern, and relationships and sexuality.
  • Training sessions on issues in the areas of behaviour of concern, and relationships and sexuality.
  • Individual sessions with persons with disability tailored to their needs concerning to behaviour of concern, and relationships and sexuality.
  • information sessions and workshops with other stakeholders covering topics related to behaviour of concern, relationships and sexuality, and related issues.

Relationships and Sexuality Education

PAPT is responsible to provide:

 

  • Education to persons with disabilities on various topics on relationships and sexuality incorporating topics that fall under emotional and sexual wellbeing, sexual health, social skills, and practical aspects of sexuality.
  • Training to Aġenzija Sapport employees regarding how to deal with delicate issues that may arise from a service user’s sexualised behaviour.
  • Continuous professional training and development to ensure good quality of Relationship and Sexuality Education Programme delivery to service users.
  • Information sessions and workshops to the service users’ support network and other stakeholders and entities.

Eligibility

Persons with disabilities interested in the Relationships and Sexuality Programme sessions need to be over 16 years of age.

 

Sessions can be delivered in both Maltese and English free of charge, depending on the individual’s need.

Referrals

The Intake Team receives and processes all intake requests by prospective services, families, and other professionals who ask for any service within the Agency. All intakes are meticulously assessed by the Intake professionals, who will identify which service/s the individual can benefit from dependent on the needs, interests and wishes of the individual.
