A series of sessions aimed for parents of children with disabilities.
AIM
Caring for a child with a disability is a journey filled with love, strength, and also unique challenges.
These workshops are designed to offer parents with a supportive space where they can reflect, learn, share experiences, and connect with other parents and caregivers.
Parents are not alone in this journey. These sessions will provide practical tools, emotional support, and renewed confidence as they continue to advocate for and nurture their child and themselves.
The sessions cover the following topics:
- Reconciling dreams, banishing guilt, and overcoming grief
- Balancing between being a parent and being a partner
- Getting to know my child – connecting before correcting
- The effects of disability on siblings
- Supporting parental mental health
- Managing stress as a parent and managing time without losing yourself
- Special kids need special parents
- Being an advocate for your child
- Sex and sexuality – the transition from childhood to adolescence
- Supported decision-making – the new trend
- A family guide to assistive technology and accessible educational material
- What will happen when I am no longer here
These groups are free of charge and are led by professionals.
