Aġenzija Sapport facilitates group sessions for teenagers who have a sibling with a disability.

 

It is a safe and supportive space for teenagers to connect, share and be understood.

 

Through age-appropriate activities, adolescents will have the opportunity to share their experience of having a sibling with a disability – being it positive situations and also challenges they face. Sessions provide them with an opportunity to feel understood and appreciated whilst having fun within a safe group.

AIMS

The Teen Siblings Support Group will:

  • Provide a safe, supportive, and understanding environment for teens who have siblings with disabilities.
  • Offer a platform where teenagers can share their experiences, thoughts, and feelings with peers who understand their unique family situations.
  • Foster mutual support and connection among group members.
  • Help teens develop valuable coping strategies and resilience skills.
  • Encourage open discussions on topics relevant to the participants’ experiences and concerns.
  • Engage participants in interactive activities and exercises that promote personal growth, self-expression, and wellbeing.
  • Create opportunities for teens to learn from one another and build meaningful peer relationships.
  • Support participants throughout a six-month programme of fortnightly sessions, promoting ongoing reflection and development.

These groups are free of charge and are led by professionals.

 

 

HOW TO APPLY

This support group is for teens aged between 13-17 who have a sibling with a disability.

The support group sessions take place every fortnight over a period of around 6 months, between October and April. The time will be between 18:00 and 19:30 (1.5 hours).

 

Tentative dates for 2026/2027 sessions are as follows:

  • Session 1: 27th October
  • Session 2: 10th November
  • Session 3: 24th November
  • Session 4: 15th December
  • Session 5: 7th January 2027
  • Session 6: 21st January
  • Session 7: 2nd February
  • Session 8: 16th February
  • Session 9: 2nd March
  • Session 10: 16th March
  • Session 11: 30th March
  • Session 12: 13th April

The sessions will take place at: Aġenzija Sapport – PDC Office, Triq Il-Ħarrub, Santa Venera SVR 9018
